中国农历的谷雨四月时节，处在南半球的阿德莱德秋意正浓。2026国际中文日的庆祝活动在阿德莱德动物园拉开帷幕。
阿德莱德动物园熊猫馆里的两只大熊猫，星秋和怡兰，与上百位游览者和来自Walford Anglican School for girls的三十多名小小中文爱好者一起，饱览了一场中华文化的盛宴，亲身体验了中文，这个世界上最古老最美丽的文字的独特魅力。
During the Grain Rain season of the Chinese lunar calendar in April, Adelaide in the Southern Hemisphere was filled with the rich atmosphere of autumn. The celebration for the 2026 International Chinese Language Day officially commenced at the Adelaide Zoo.
At the Adelaide Zoo Panda Exhibit, the two giant pandas, Xingqiu and Yilan, joined hundreds of visitors and more than thirty young Chinese language enthusiasts from Walford Anglican School for Girls in enjoying a vibrant celebration of Chinese culture. Together, they experienced firsthand the unique charm of the Chinese language — one of the world’s oldest and most beautiful writing systems.

早上9.30，孩子们中国文化体验的第一站就是：“寻找中华文化宝藏”。在占地3000多平米的熊猫馆里，来自澳中文化交流促进会的志愿者们站在6个宝藏点附近，为成功找到中文宝藏的小朋友们扣上印章，让孩子们还体验了一下中国的“印章文化”。

Come and join the children on a cultural “treasure hunt”!
At 9:30am, the first stop of the children’s Chinese cultural experience was “Searching for Chinese Cultural Treasures.”
Throughout the 3,000-square-metre Panda Exhibit, volunteers from the Australia-China Cultural Promotion Association stood beside six different treasure points. Children who successfully discovered the Chinese cultural treasures received special stamps, giving them a hands-on experience of traditional Chinese stamp culture as well.

孩子们边玩边学，开心极了！
Did you spot them? There are a total of six treasure locations hidden throughout the exhibit! Each child used their “treasure map” to complete the challenge stops and discover the Chinese cultural stories behind each location.
The children learned while they played — and had an amazing time doing it!
当孩子们集齐了6个中华文化宝藏的印章，就可以召唤小神龙，开始了学写中文字，学画熊猫！
Once the children collected all six Chinese cultural treasure stamps, they were able to “summon the little dragon” and begin an exciting new adventure — learning to write Chinese characters and draw pandas!
来自澳中文化协会的志愿者们提前准备了象形字的由来，熊和猫的演变过程，孩子们都很感兴趣。
Volunteers from the Australia-China Cultural Promotion Association had carefully prepared displays introducing the origins of Chinese pictographic characters, as well as the evolution of the Chinese characters for “bear” and “cat.” The children were fascinated and showed great interest throughout the activity.

Look closely! On the children’s drawing paper, adorable chubby pandas were munching on bamboo, rolling across the grass, and — for the very first time — the children were writing the beautifully complex Chinese characters for “panda” (熊猫)!
“快看我的熊猫，它在对我笑呢！”
“我画的熊猫正在竹林里打滚儿～”
“Look at my panda — it’s smiling at me!”
“My panda is rolling around in the bamboo forest!”
一声声稚嫩又可爱的分享，满是对国宝的喜爱与欢喜。一只只圆滚滚的黑白团子，就这样成了孩子们心中最萌的中华文化小使者。
The children’s sweet and excited voices were filled with joy and love for China’s national treasure.
One after another, these round black-and-white pandas became the cutest little ambassadors of Chinese culture in the children’s hearts.
国际中文日怎么能缺少精彩的中华文化的节目表演呢？太极表演的王家齐老师，身着飘逸的太极服，以其流畅而充满力量的动作，展示了太极拳的优雅与美学。
How could International Chinese Language Day be complete without wonderful Chinese cultural performances? Tai Chi performer Mr. Wang Jiaqi, dressed in a graceful traditional Tai Chi outfit, captivated the audience with his smooth yet powerful movements, beautifully showcasing the elegance and artistry of Tai Chi.
古筝演奏王译彬老师，用她那悠扬动人的琴声振奋了在场每一位的心灵。她的指尖轻舞间，优美神秘的东方音乐倾泻而出，《春江花月夜》等古筝名曲，带领大家感受中华乐器的魅力。
Guzheng musician Ms. Wang Yibin touched the hearts of everyone present with her graceful and captivating performance. As her fingers danced gently across the strings, beautiful and enchanting melodies of the East flowed through the air. Renowned guzheng pieces such as Spring River Flower Moon Night invited the audience to experience the unique charm and elegance of traditional Chinese music.
孩子们眼中充满了好奇与向往。不少孩子更是跃跃欲试，迫不及待地想要走上台亲自弹奏，在音乐中感受那份独特的魅力与乐趣，进一步领略古筝的独特韵味与魅力。
The children’s eyes were filled with curiosity and excitement. Many of them were eager to have a try themselves, excitedly waiting for the chance to step onto the stage and play the guzheng in person.
Through the music, they experienced the instrument’s unique beauty and joy firsthand, gaining a deeper appreciation for the elegance and charm of the guzheng.

The distinguished guests in attendance brought even greater significance and brilliance to this cultural celebration. Gathered together, everyone joined in celebrating the 2026 International Chinese Language Day and sharing in the spirit of cultural exchange and connection.
熊猫是中国的国宝，更是中外友好的使者。
活动现场，熊猫饲养员Ms Tayla Green上台，为大家生动介绍了大熊猫星秋和怡兰的可爱日常，让同学们近距离了解国宝的生活习性。
Giant pandas are not only China’s national treasure, but also ambassadors of friendship between China and the world.
At the event, panda keeper Ms. Tayla Green took to the stage to share the adorable daily lives of the giant pandas Xingqiu and Yilan. Her lively presentation gave students a closer understanding of the pandas’ habits and routines.
分享结束后，5名同学勇敢上台，向Ms Tayla提问关于熊猫的小秘密，在互动中收获知识，随后，中国驻阿德莱德总领事馆的姚娜领事、孙一涛领事上台，为参与问答的同学们赠送礼品，送上鼓励与祝福。
After the presentation, five students bravely came up to the stage to ask Ms. Tayla questions about the giant pandas and their little secrets. Through the interactive session, the students gained both knowledge and joy.
Following the Q&A, Consul Yao Na and Consul Sun Yitao from the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Adelaide came on stage to present gifts to the participating students, offering their encouragement and best wishes.

中国驻阿德莱德总领馆总领事李东先生在致辞中表示，希望同学们通过学习汉语，开阔眼界、加深情谊，共同描绘更加绚丽多彩的未来。他表示，大熊猫不仅是中国的国宝，更是中澳两国友好交流的象征与使者。
The guest speech session brought even greater cultural depth and meaning to the event.
In his address, Consul-General Mr. Li Dong from the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Adelaide expressed his hope that students, through learning Chinese, would broaden their horizons, deepen friendships, and work together to create a brighter and more colourful future.
He also shared that giant pandas are not only China’s national treasure, but also symbols and ambassadors of friendship and cultural exchange between China and Australia.
致辞结束后，李总领事还准备了3道熊猫相关的趣味问题，同学们积极作答，在问答中加深对国宝的了解，师生们纷纷表示，这是一次“最特别的课堂”，不仅收获了中文知识，更结下了一份与大熊猫及中国文化的美好情缘。
After the speech, Consul-General Li Dong also prepared three fun panda-related questions for the students. The children eagerly participated in answering, deepening their understanding of China’s beloved national treasure through the interactive session. Many teachers and students shared that this was “the most special classroom experience,” where they not only gained Chinese language and cultural knowledge, but also formed a beautiful connection with giant pandas and Chinese culture.
阿德莱德动物园园长Mr Chad Crittle表示，大熊猫 “星秋” 与 “怡兰” 在 2024 年定居阿德莱德，成为澳中两国合作互信的重要象征。
他指出，大熊猫保护工作是全球生态保护领域的成功典范，动物园既是保护珍稀物种的关键阵地，也是推动公众认识自然、深化文化交流的重要平台。
Mr. Chad Crittle, Director of Adelaide Zoo, shared that the giant pandas Xingqiu and Yilan settled in Adelaide in 2024, becoming important symbols of cooperation and mutual trust between Australia and China.
He noted that giant panda conservation is a successful example of global wildlife protection efforts, and that zoos are not only vital places for protecting endangered species, but also important platforms for helping the public better understand nature and promoting deeper cultural exchange.
分享结束后，Mr Crittle也与同学们展开互动问答，大家积极参与、大胆作答，现场氛围热烈而温馨，答题结束后，大家一同合影，留下了难忘的回忆。
After the presentation, Mr. Crittle also joined the students in an interactive Q&A session. The children participated enthusiastically and answered the questions with confidence, creating a warm and lively atmosphere throughout the activity. At the end of the session, everyone gathered together for a group photo, capturing a memorable moment from this special experience.
文化的传承，离不开热爱与坚守。澳中文化促进会副会长Mr Mark Gustavsson上台，分享了自己与中文相伴十余年的故事——他曾远赴中国山东研习中华传统武术，将对中文的热爱融入生活的每一处，这段真诚而鼓舞人心的经历，让现场所有人都感受到了中文的魅力与中华文化的包容性。
The passing on of culture depends on passion, dedication, and perseverance.
Mr. Mark Gustavsson, Vice President of the Australia-China Cultural Promotion Association, took to the stage to share his story of spending more than a decade connected with the Chinese language and culture. He once travelled to Shandong, China, to study traditional Chinese martial arts, integrating his love for Chinese culture into every aspect of his life.
His sincere and inspiring journey allowed everyone present to deeply feel the charm of the Chinese language and the inclusiveness of Chinese culture.
随后，阿德莱德市前市长黄国鑫博士致辞。
他以轻松幽默的方式与孩子们互动，笑称自己和熊猫来自同一个“故乡”，一下子拉近了与孩子们的距离，成功激发了大家对中国文化的兴趣与好奇。
Following this, former Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Dr. Alfred Huang, delivered a speech.
With a light-hearted and humorous style, he interacted warmly with the children, joking that he and the pandas came from the same “hometown.” His friendly approach instantly brought him closer to the students and sparked even greater curiosity and interest in Chinese culture among the audience.
Walford Anglican School for Girls小学部校长Ms Cathie Egarr，分享了活动感悟，感谢各方支持，鼓励孩子们继续探索中文之美。
Ms. Cathie Egarr, Head of Junior School at Walford Anglican School for Girls, also shared her reflections on the event.
She expressed her gratitude to all those who supported the program and encouraged the students to continue exploring the beauty of the Chinese language and culture.

Community leaders from across South Australia also came on stage to welcome the children and reflect together on this cultural celebration, where pandas served as ambassadors and the Chinese language became a bridge connecting cultures.
The guests highly praised the significance of the event, noting that it not only allowed children to experience the beauty of the Chinese language and the richness of Chinese culture, but also further strengthened connections between the people of China and Australia, promoting multicultural understanding and harmony.
They also expressed their hope that more meaningful and heartwarming cultural exchange activities like this would be held in the future.
